Lebensgefährte

November 14, 2009

Lebensgefährte[†]

Redness seeps from the day;

night arranges herself around us.

Gentle breezes sweep the field, and we sit,

counting stars through the holes in the blanket.

Listen carefully at my chest.

Hush, whispers the grasses;

Be still, counsels the susurrant trees.

Hear the story going on and on…

Imagine finding a man to take you,

to take you to places you don’t dare go alone;

Imagine what’s never been.

The story, our memories, our unified voice.

Your heart fell in love with mine;

we’re on that shared road counting stars.

Oh! my Lebensgefährte.

[†] The one who travels life’s road with you
